< Examination Rules of Journal of the Optical Society of Korea > |
Article 1 |
(Purpose) This rules intend to specify examination procedures of the literatures contributed to Journal of the Optical Society of Korea (hereinafter referred to as JOSK) published by the Optical Society of Korea. |
Article 2 |
(Acceptance) The editing committee shall accept the literatures from the authors who wants to publish their literatures and conduct examination procedures upon contribution rules. |
Article 3 |
(Classification) The accepted literatures will be classified into specialized areas by the editing manager. |
Article 4 |
(Responsible Executive Editing Director) The classified literature shall be handled on successive examination process by the Responsible Executive Editing Director of relevant specific area such as selection of examiner, etc. In case the Responsible Executive Editing Director has an accident and he/she is included into the authors of the contributed literature, the editing manager shall undertake the successive examination, while if the editing manager is included into, the chairman of the editing committee shall undertake it. |
Article 5 |
(Selection of Examiners) The responsible executive editing committee member shall select three (3) examiners out of those who have a doctorate or equivalent qualification on the relevant area to each contributed literature and request them to examine the literature. The responsible executive editing committee member and any editing committee member can be also an examiner. |
Article 6 |
(Examination Period) If the examiner does not submit the opinion of examination within fifteen (15) days after entrusting of examination, such entrusting may be revoked. |
Article 7 |
(Decision of Examination) The examiner shall submit decision of grade such as no correction, some correction, conditional acceptance and unsuitable for publication based on examination item table, opinion of examination and if required, clarified request for correction on the entrusted literature to the editing committee within fifteen (15) days. Each examination standard is described as follows:
A. No Correction: A literature available for publication with no correction
B. Some Correction: A literature that has partial deficiency on its content or system and accordingly recommended correction, but available for publication through determination on the correction by the author¡¯s discretion against the recommended correction of the examiner
C. Conditional Acceptance: A literature that requires considerable correction on its content or system, needs to be corrected according to request of correction from the examiner and is subject to determination on correction and its suitability by the responsible executive editing committee member
D. Reexamination: A literature that has ambiguity or deficiency on its content or system, requires correction by the author according to request of correction from the examiner and requires reexamination on its correction by the examiner
E. Unsuitable for Publication
A literature that pirates contents of any published literature without any base
A literature of which research results are not clear
A literature of which research results have no considerable difference from the published one
A literature of which contents have no originality
A literature of which description or logical system is unsuitable
Other literature of which research area is unsuitable, etc. |
Article 8 |
(Correction of Literature) The author whose literature has been recommended or requested for correction shall correct the literature according to recommendation or request for correction from the examiner and submit the answer and modified edition to the Society. |
Article 9 |
(Determination of Reexamination) Every modified edition of the literature that has been determined for reexamination shall be conducted on the examination and determination procedures specified on Article 7. |
Article 10 |
(Determination of Availability of Publication) Any literature that has been determined to be published from all three (3) examiners shall be recommended to the editing committee for publication by the responsible executive editing committee member. |
Article 11 |
(Determination Committee Member)
¨ç In case any literature has been determined to be unsuitable for publication from two (2) or more examiners, it shall be finally determined by one judgment committee member from the third party selected by the responsible executive editing committee member.
¨è The judgment committee member shall execute the final examination pursuant to Article 7 by referring all of the opinions of the initial three examiners, and his/her opinion shall be the final examination opinion. |
Article 12 |
(Determination of Unavailable for Publication) Any literature that has been determined as unsuitable for publication from all three examiners or judgment committee member shall be recommended by the responsible executive editing committee member as non-publication to the editing committee, and such literature that has been determined by the editing committee as non-publication shall not be published. |
Article 13 |
(Examination Procedures of Express Publication) Examination procedures of the literatures from submission to publication recommendation should be finished within 1 month. |
Additional Rule (Apr. 30, 1999) This amended rule shall become effective from May 1, 1999.
Additional Rule (Dec. 22, 2000) This amended rule shall become effective from Dec. 22, 2000.
Additional Rule (Oct. 28, 2005) This amended rule shall become effective from Oct. 10, 2005.
